I
have just kept doing my twice weekly sessions, which is now
long term. I will continue
to do this for the foreseeable future, provided that there
is room for me on the programme. At the moment I am concentrating
on just pushing myself a little more as fitness increases,
which is a good challenge.

Long term
exercise seems to have a beneficial effect on both my weight
and overall fitness for which I am exceedingly grateful!

“I enjoy going to the sessions which as well as keeping me fit, it also has a social aspect. All staff are approachable, friendly and caring. They offer guidance and help allowing you to work at your own pace.”

I have attended exercise sessions regularly ever since completing the Cardiac Rehab Programme some three years ago. For me it is an essential element for my continuing well-being following my heart attack.
I perform a similar routine at each session based on the exercise plan set out for me after my initial assessment as a cardiac rehab patient. I have been able to increase the level of effort whilst keeping my heart rate within the limits for my age group. I have achieved and maintained a weight loss since commencing the exercise programme.
I enjoy the exercise and have made some new friends within the other participants of the exercise group. I firmly believe that I need and benefit enormously from the exercise group.

I shall be pleased to attend the long term exercise classes for as long as possible, they give me confidence in my new found ability to exercise to within the limits of my capabilities.

One initial reaction to suffering heart problems is a lack of confidence to resume physical activities which is particularly depressing if you are of a sporting nature (I actually had my heart attack on the squash court!) The structured, monitored approach of the cardiac rehab exercise programme soon overcome this obstacle. The comforting presence of qualified staff and graduated activity levels soon remove any misgivings and exercise can be enjoyed again. The beneficial effect of feeling physically fitter cannot be underestimated and undoubtedly contributes to patients’ long term recovery. I would urge any cardiac patient to join the programme as soon as medically possible.

The support and assistance of the team has been invaluable
in helping me to understand and manage my overall recovering
and progress. Their combined knowledge regarding
both relevant activities and general health questions relating
to surgery and the healing process, has provided an excellent
source of information which they impart in a compassionate
and caring manner.
Their enthusiasm and encouragement coupled with their ability to adapt to the needs of the individual provides an environment which motivates and paces each person, so that rehabilitation of both the physical and emotional sides of the trauma of surgery are successfully achieved.

I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to attend that they do so – its enjoyable, fun and makes a significant and positive difference at a time which can be daunting and scary.

This rehab course has given me the confidence to undertake
exercise whilst knowing my limitations and has been very beneficial
and certainly a tremendous improvement on the one I was involved
with 3 years ago. I doubt if any other areas have
such a good rehabilitation and long term exercise programmes
