We believe that rehabilitation from a cardiac or
pulmonary condition should not only include exercise, education
and support, but also social interaction with other suffers and
their families, carers and friends.
We have a very active social
committee headed by Helen Scott our social secretary. This forms
part of our general Support Group and the committee organises many
activities and fund raising events throughout the year.

We encourage all clients of our rehabilitation groups,
past and present, to attend our social events and most are open
to client's families, carers and friends. We believe that is essential
that families and friends have an opportunity to meet other similar
people caring for someone with a cardiac or respiratory complaint.
At Barnsley Health we believe that an experience or problem
shared is and experience or problem halved and sharing of information
is beneficial to all. |

The
bi-annual dinner and dance, organised by Helen, are always a great
success and well attended. Held in the summer and winter the events
are usually held at Barnsley MetroDome in one of their
excellent function rooms. There is always plenty of good food and
drink and of course dancing as well as a fund raising raffle. Open
to all past and present members of our rehabilitation groups and
their families, and friends. Click the link for details
of our previous "Dinner and Dance"

Another very popular event that is organised by Barnsley's answer to "Colin Montgomerie", our very own Peter Scott. The competition is open to current and past rehabilitation clients and their friends and family. Cardiac competitors play in the Harold Fearn competition and are also eligible to receive the Hinchelwood Cup.
Non-Cardiac competitors play in the Burroughs Shield Competition.
All Players are eligible to participate in the “nearest the
pin” and “longest drive” competitions.
Prizes are presented in the club house on the day of the competition.

Another sporting social event organised by our social committee. Very lighthearted competition with no expectation of great bowling skills. Open to both experienced bowlers and those with less familiarity of the sport. All past and present members of our long term exercise groups and their families, and friends are eligible to join us. |
